Common questions

Will this really be specific to my address?

The preview runs on your actual address before you pay anything, and the full sample report is public. Your report opens with your land — your ecoregion, your soil, where your rain drains. If that page could be about anyone’s yard, don’t buy it.

How is this different from free tools like Calscape?

Calscape is free, it is very good, and we use its nursery data ourselves. Give it a location and it returns the plants for your ecoregion, weighted by environmental suitability and by how close the observations are — a species list to work through. We narrow that to your parcel: its own soil series, elevation, climate and distance to water, ranked by the wildlife each plant supports, limited to plants the California native-plant trade actually carries, and a list you build against it and print for the counter.

Where does the data come from?

Public science — EPA ecoregions, USDA soil surveys, 30-year climate normals, CNPS Calscape, and the keystone-plant research behind the wildlife rankings. The full pipeline, every source, and what we don’t do are public: read the methodology.

What if it's not right for my yard?

You don’t have to take it on faith. The free preview runs on your real address, and the full sample report is public — so you see exactly what a report delivers, on your own land, before you pay anything. I'm not a real gardener. Will I understand it?

The report is written for humans, not botanists. Every plant shows what it needs — sun, water, size — and you can filter to the yard you actually have. Plants adapted to your conditions are the forgiving choice; that’s the point of natives.

It's not planting season. Should I wait?

Plan now, plant when the weather’s right — the report doesn’t expire. In California the planting season is fall, with the first rains, so the best time to build your list is before it arrives.

I'm a landscape designer. Is this for client work?

Yes — that’s what the bundles are for. A site-specific starting palette in about a minute, plus a polished page to put in front of the client. You curate from there. At the 10-report rate it’s $20 a site.

Do you track me or sell my data?

No. Analytics here are cookieless, there are no ad trackers, and your address is used to build your report — never to advertise to you. The privacy policy is short and in plain English.
