Every yard can be a refuge.
“Plant natives” is good advice with a hole in it: which ones? Most lists answer for a whole region or a ZIP code — and in California that can take in fog-belt bluffs, oak savanna, high desert, and everything between. The right answer depends on the land you’re standing on.
Native Refuge closes that gap. Type a California address and it reads the land the way a naturalist would — ecoregion, soil, climate, watershed — then returns the native plants that belong there, ordered within each plant type by the wildlife they support, and where to buy them. The name is the point. A refuge isn’t a landscaping style — it’s a place where the life that evolved here can land, eat, and raise its young. The plants that grew up with this land know how to hold it. The report tells you which ones they are.
It’s built on public science — EPA ecoregions, USDA soil surveys, herbarium records, CNPS Calscape, decades of wildlife research — and how it works is public, including what it deliberately doesn’t do: read the methodology. Native Refuge is independently built and run in California. No ads, no ad trackers, no data selling. The report is the product.
